17th IOD Foundation Day
On the occasion a seminar was organized on the subject of “Building Boards for Tomorrow” , it was inaugurated by DR A R Kidwai, the Governor of Haryana and the special addresses were given by Justice P N Bhagwati, former Chief Justice of India, Dr Madhav Mehra President IOD and Shri Anwarul Huda, IAS, member Planning Commission. Raja Vir Bhadra Singh, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh was a special guest and was presented with the Golden Peacock Environment Leadership Award. A large number of distinguished Indians were honoured on the occasion for their role and contribution to public causes. All the Awardees were there to receive the Award in person. From the Public Sector Industry, the Awardees were CMDs of NTPC, BHEL, and IOC, from the Private Sector the awards were presented to Shri Shayam Bhartiya, Founder & Chairman Jubilant Group, Shri Surinder Kapoor, CMD Sona Koyo Steerings. From the media the Award was given to Shri Pritish Nandy, the eminent media personality and Padma Shri. From Government Sector some prominent civil servants were selected for the awards including Shri N Gopalawami, IAS Chief Election Commissioner of India, Shri Pradip Baijal, former Chairman TRAI and Ms Gauri Kumar., Director General NIFT. The function was well attended by large number of delegates from Private Sector, Public Sector, various Ministries and Departments of Government of India and the Armed Forces. The special address given on the subject by Vinod Dhall IAS, Acting Chairman Competition Commission of India was well received. After the award ceremony there was a panel discussion on the theme “Building Boards for Tomorrow”, it was chaired by Dr Madhav Mehra, President IOD Shri Ajay Dua, Secretary IP&P, Dr Ranjana Kumar, Vigilance Commissioner and from academia Dr M N Kondap Vice Chancellor, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Sciences. The entire event was highly successful and acclaimed by both trade and industry. The panel discussion was very informative, topical and appreciated by the large number of delegates present.
